May 21, 2015 at Annville Cleona Junior Senior High School

Daniel Tulloch age 10 going to his first track meet for Hershey Blazers Track Team

On May 21, 2015, Daniel went to Annville Cleona for his first dual meet with the Park and Rec Track Team in that area. This meet and the next three meets will not be for moving up through the ranks of the USATF to nationals. No, these meets will be for a spot in the heat of the  2015 Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships for the Mid-Atlantic Association, June 20-21, 2015 at Moravian College, Bethlehem, Pa.  They will take the best times people ran in the fastest heat in previous meets. The slowest time people ran previously go into the slowest heat. This is what Daniel is running for in this meet. He needs times to get in the first or second heats.

In this meet, Daniel ran the 800 Meter and the 1 by 400 Meter Relay. Daniel ran the 800 Meter with a time of 3 Minutes 7.43 Seconds. He came in 2nd out of 4 people. No ribbons or metals given out at this meet. The only thing that matters is the time.

Next Daniel ran the 4 X 100 Meter Relay with a total time of 1 Minute 9 Seconds.  He ran in the first leg with a time of 18.18 Seconds.

His next meet will be on May 31, 2015 at Plainfield Tsunami Invitational, Hub Stine Complex Plainsfield, NJ on Sunday, May 31, 2015. The Flash will be running the 1500 Meter, 800 Meter, and some type of  Relay. Again, the idea is to achieve higher times to take to the Mid-Atlantic Association meet.

  Now for some other news.

This is the 1994 Greater Paxtonia Track Team.
The Greater Paxtonia Track Club folded in 1999 after 10 years of operation. Some of these children moved on to be teachers, coaches, professional people, and good mothers and fathers. However since Hyleas Fountain came in Second in the 2008 Olympics and participated in the 2012 Olympics, an urban legend  evolved around the 1994 Track Club. As a matter of fact, a brick is being considered for the "citizen financed" sports stadium in Havre De Grace, MD., next year.

I had a high school coach ask me if I was going to start up the club again because the club was a help to students once they arrived in the high grades.

I am involved with the Hershey Blaze team. Knowing that I was involved with children who became powerful players in several colleges and world class activities, many want to know if I can do the same for their children.

What people do not understand is that I and many other coaches have never made anyone something that they did not want to become. We can only show them the way. I remember when Hyleas was 12 years old. She wanted to be like Jackie Joyner Kersee. Not only did she do that but Jackie came to see her perform.  To become an Hyleas Fountain, that person must work at least 5 days a week for years.

Another question that I get all the time, "How far did I go as a track star?" My answer no place. I ran for 2 years and never advanced.  I started coaching because my oldest daughter wanted to run track at 9 years old and at that point, I did not know that girls ran track so I had to find a way to get her involved. That included reading up on the subject of coaching track and reviewing videos on the subject. Finally, I had to start my own track club just so she could run.

If you want to make a difference in children's lives like many of you think I did, get involved in your children's sports. Learn how to help your children and other children in the community!
