The 23rd Annual Ben & Tim Day 5k on August 23, 2014 !

The 23rd Annual Ben and Tim Day 5k Race was Daniel's first 5K as a 9 year old. Here are the statistics from that race.

Tim Russell 5K Run Part 1. This was the start of the race.  Mrs. Russell, one of the founders of this race came over to meet Stephanie. She has been friends with Stephanie for 5 years.

Name: Daniel  Tulloch
Bib #: 314
Gun Time: 25:47.8 ( 8:19/mile)
Chip Time: 25:47.8
Overall Place:   222/432
Age Group Place: 17/25 (Male  13 and Under)

Tim Russell 5K Run Part 2. This is the end of the 5K race with Daniel placing 17th with a time of 25 Minutes, 48 Seconds in the 12 and under division. This was a bad time for Daniel. We have to find out what the problem is and solve the problem.

This race showed that he is behind where I think he should be by 3 Minutes, 48 Seconds. Cross Country 2K and 5K races are not like Daniel's 800 M, 1500 M, or 3000 M races. In these races, Daniel runs on a track which is all the same. When Daniel runs Cross Country, he runs a 2K or 5K on hills, flat roads and different types  of terrain. Athletes can be good on one terrain while performing bad on others.  Each week, we have to train for that special terrain.

In this race, Daniel came in 17th in the 12 and under group.

The biggest surprise was David's performance.

This was 4 year old David's first meet as a 4 year old. This race was  1 mile long. As a 3 year old, David ran his first ever 1/2 mile run. My objective was for David to finish the race. His mother Stephanie kept David in sight for the whole mile. At 4 years old Daniel ran the mile on his own with no help and no one watching him.

But David did more than that, he sprinted the whole race.    David got 2nd place,
running a mile in 12 minutes 18 seconds. His only mistake is that he had to be directed to go across the finish line and not to his mother. This is understandable at his level of training.

2014 David running the 1 mile Tim Russell fun run -- Time 1 Minute

Under Pennsylvania State requirements, all he has to do is speed up 2 minutes and 18 seconds and he will have the qualifying time to graduate from High School. Many high school students have a hard time running a mile in 10 Minutes.

This is the end of David's 1 mile fun run where he finished in 2nd place with a time of 12 Minutes 18 Seconds. -- Time 1 Minute 47 Seconds
