The Hershey Blaze XC group allows kids of all age groups an opportunity to continue their training into the fall and even compete in several meets. This season begins in September and goes into early November. Like our track & field program, Hershey Blaze Cross Country is designed to introduce kids to distance running by providing an experience that is fun, competitive, social, and informative about the sport.
Cross country races are trail runs across several types of terrain at distances of 2,000m (1.2 miles) for kids 8 years old and under; 3,000m (1.9 miles) for kids 9 through 12 years old; 4,000m (2.5 miles) for kids 13 and 14 years old; and 5,000m (3.1 miles) for 15 year olds. The primary events that Hershey Blaze runners compete in are the Healthy Kids Running Series and the USATF XC Junior Olympic Series. Hershey Blaze athletes have been highly successful and have qualified to compete at the top level.
Saturday Oct. 31, 2015 at Hershey
This is David in 30 Degree Weather, running the 2K in Hershey on Oct. 31, 2015. He did not finish and Mother Stephanie had to carry him most of the way. He did not want to run.
This is David trying to explain how Daniel's race ended.
Daniel came in 5th out of 5 Hershey Blaze runners on Saturday October 31, 2015. His time was 25 Minutes 45 seconds.
Sunday Nov. 1, 2015 5K Hero Run at Swatara Harrisburg Mall
Daniel ran this run with a Gun Time of 25 minutes, 45.6 seconds. The ten year old Chip Time was 45 Minutes, 44.4 Seconds. They had over 600 people registered for this race but only 221 runners finished. Daniel was 109th to finish. In his age group he finished 8th. He ran in the 9 -- 12 year old group.
But the amazing person that ran was David. Stephanie decided not to go to the XC meet. His father Damine took us to the mall to get their registration packages and prepare for the race.
The first thing we had to do was get Daniel to the starting line and get him off. Then it was David's turn for the one mile run while Daniel was running his 5K.
I did not expect David to want to run. I did not think that Damine thought he would run either. So I got behind David on the starting line expecting after a quarter mile, he would stop and walk back.
When the horn went off, I took one step, looked up and not only was David down the street but he was leading everyone else. I still thought that he would "die." So I did not speed up. But next thing I knew, he was out of sight. I started getting a little worried.
Damine caught up with me and asked, where was David. I did not know and Damine went on a head of me looking for him. I stopped and went to the finish line. Sooner or later he was going to show up.
David was running his race. I looked down to the opposite end of the mall and saw Damine but no David. Damine walk down to me and told me that David was in the mall on his last leg of the race. So I waited and sure enough, he came out the other end of the mall and ran toward the finish line running just as strong and focus as he started.
His father Damine said to David, "Come on in the mall, I will buy you anything you want!" In the last 5 years, I never heard Damine say that to David. He spent almost $50 on David. It looks like I am not the only person impressed.
David Tulloch is in Kindergarden at Paxtonia Elementary but he stepped up his play today!
In the Saturday September 12, 2015, Sasquatch race, Daniel ran a 5K (5K equals 3.1 miles; that is over 12 laps around a high school track) in 24 Minutes, 25.3 Seconds.He came in 5th. The four people that beat him in his age group was; Start End Time Age 1. 298 Wherley, Isaac 08:59:27.0 09:18:25.2 00:18:58.2 12 Yr old 2. 69 Falk, Zachary 08:59:27.0 09:19:55.2 00:20:28.2 15 Yr old 3. 95 Hand, Brian 08:59:27.0 09:20:21.4 00:20:54.4 15 Yr old 4. 182 Rabatin, Curtis 08:59:27.0 09:23:34.5 00:24:07.5 12 Yr old
Daniel is in the 5th grade. It will soon be time to start contacting colleges to find out who has the best scholarship program for Cross Country. This first contact is not to place him in a college. It is to tell colleges that he will be committing in 7 years and to find out what is out in the college world that can help him at that time based on what he wants to do as he nears time to go to college.

5 year old David Tulloch ran this 1 mile race in 10 minutes 46 seconds at the Ben and Tim Day. He is in Kindergarten. The State of Pennsylvania has a law that says that a 12th Grader has to run a mile in 10 minutes. David only has to come down 46 seconds to qualify for graduation in 12 years.

We had a record turnout and as always, all profit goes to such a worthy cause. See you next year for our 25th year!"
Daniel ran the 1500 Meter Run alone with 2 of his team mates. Daniel came in 3rd.
Darnell Williams, Daniel's Grand father and Daniel's mother and Darnell's Daughter, Stephanie Tulloch is here waiting for the Daniel's 800 Meter run to start.
This is the end of Daniel's participation in the 9 and 10
Year Old Boys Division in the USATF in Summer Track and Field. He has been
competing since he was 4 years old. Next year, if Daniel wants to, he will run
the 80 Meter Hurdles, the 3000 Meter, and the 1500 Meter Run. He may run the Pentathlon.
But that is up to Daniel to continue his development into a
Public School, College, and even a professional athlete. Only Daniel can make
these decisions.
He is scheduled to run two 5K Cross Country Meets in August 2015.That will be the start of the 2015 Cross Country Season. December 2015 will be the start of the 2016 Indoor Track Season.

The top 5
finishers go on to the USATF National Junior Olympic Outdoor Track And Field
Championships Monday, July 27 - Sunday, August 02 at the University Of North
Florida at Jacksonville FL.
This is the
end of Daniel's participation in the 9 to 10 Year Old Division for the 2015 Summer USATF Season.
He still runs this summer in the Pennsylvania Key Stone Games.
A person running Hurdles like Daniel will do next year.
Next year he is
looking at running the 80M Hurdles and the 3000 Meter Run.
The smoking Jamacan Flash with his two Gold Medals.
On June 24, 2015,
Daniel, the "flash" and his Hershey
Blaze Track Club went down to York, Pa. to run against the Trojan Track Club.
The Trojan Track Club welcomed many young athletes in York, PA who want to
learn the sport of track & field in a fun, competitive, and social environment.
Daniel ran in three
events.
The 100 Meter Run:
Daniel has it in his mind that he is a short
distance runner. So he was signed up to run the 100 Meter Dash. No, he is not UsainBoltbut
if running the 100 Meter and running the 4X100 Meter relay makes him happy then good for
him.
He is at the age
where girls and boys notice each other. Two girls walked up to him and asked him if he is a long distance runner
after Daniel ran the 1600 Meter Run.Daniel's replied, "I am a short and long distance runner!"
He might be Jamaican
but he is not UsainBolt.
Too bad I am not 54 years younger. Who am I kidding? I will be just as
slow as I am now.
Daniel is preparing to
run the
800 Meter Run
The 800 Meter Run:
He ran the 800 M Run in 2 Minutes and 59 seconds just like the old Jamaican
Flash, placing first.
The Starter blocked the view of Daniel
finishing his 1600 Meter Run.
The 1600 Meter
Run:
He ran the 1600 Meters (1 Mile) in 7 Minutes, 25 Seconds. This distance is
what Middle School and High School runs.USATF runs the 1500 Meter that is shorterthan WPIAA events in Middle and High School.
The "Flash"
dominates the 800 M and the 1500 M in Eastern Pennsylvania. He will have to
work to gain his dominant status in the Region. Next for Daniel will be the USATF Region 2
Meet in Slippery Rock in Western Pennsylvania.Wish him well.
